Outta the woods
Thank you for so many warm healing wishes and prayers, my granddaughter was moved from ICU to PCU late last night; next move should be tomorrow to a regular room, big exhale! If all goes well first of the week she will be home and recuperate in familiar surroundings, with her baby close by.

She had a severe kidney infection that moved to her bladder then reeked havoc through her system causing temperature to rise, blood pressure to drop, neck was stiff, and she was dehydrated. Seems our systems are becoming immune to antibiotics as infections race through our systems and some becoming super bugs. It takes a cocktail of antibiotics to battle the intrusion, and a battery of tests to locate where infection has invaded. Thank goodness it did not invade the tissue around her heart it was bad enough where it was.

It is a bit frightening knowing as time moves forward even the so-called common cold could one day be a battle trying to fight, our hope is that research moves at a quicker rate as our bodies become even more resistant to antibiotics.

For now, we are thankful she can now sit up, eat soft foods and talk to us more than five minutes before she drifts off to dream land. Now like Zuzu as she mentioned in her note my granddaughter becomes teary when we mention her baby or when she asks how she is doing. A mother's love immeasurable, grief is the blade that pierces.
